Be A Fit Kid Evaluation
Participating Elementary School Teachers
In order to evaluate and refine the Be A Fit Kid program, and to evaluate its institutionalization in elementary schools, classroom teachers are asked to complete surveys relating to the inclusion and integration of the nutrition component of Be A Fit Kid into their classroom curriculum.
In order to determine the extent to which schools are providing students with Be A Fit Kid activities and/or fitness-related activities during the school day, and the extent to which schools are meeting the physical activity guidelines outlined in the federally-mandated Wellness Policy, PE teachers and/or classroom teachers are asked to complete surveys relating to the amount and intensity of physical activity that children have the opportunity to participate in during the school day.
Participating Elementary School Students
In previous Be A Fit Kid trials, measurements relating to fitness, dietary habits, nutrition knowledge, body composition, and blood levels of cholesterol breakdown and glucose were required before and after the Be A Fit Kid intervention in order to evaluate and determine the efficacy of the program. With the institutionalization of Be A Fit Kid into elementary schools and delivery of the program by elementary school teachers, all student measurements are voluntary. Each school/classroom teacher will decide whether students will participate in measurements.
